"You gotta love the speed of Hypershot!"

"Bunkspeed forum member IdeationEdge shows how a new level of conceptualizing products is possible with HyperShot as part of his workflow.

My company is "courting" a new lucrative folding knife industrial design client. They asked us if we could work with demanding dead lines for trade shows and expos. So I sketched, modeled, and rendered two fun little projects in 16hrs and sent them these.

You gotta love the speed of Hypershot"

Kuryakyn '09 Harley Catalog Evokes Emotion using HyperShot

Küryakyn, an innovative design company of aftermarket motorcycle parts for Harley Davidson and Metric Cruisers uses HyperShot to create marketing and catalog imagery.

"Our material is chrome, and with that comes many MANY challenges in both the photography and rendering world. Chrome is absolutely mindblowing to photograph, let alone render, but with the release of HyperShot we are beginning to overcome our limitations and produce realistic images of our products in a fraction of the time."

"I had the pleasure of getting my hands wet with HyperShot. I don't do any modeling, but get to do everything after that and handle rendering, color correcting, and touching up of final images before they go to print."

"Just to give you a sampling, here is our 2009 Harley Catalog cover. All parts (5 total in this image) were rendered in HyperShot, then digitally painted into the image using Photoshop."

Award Winning Industrial Designer Bill Gould Chooses HyperShot to Render His Solidworks Models

Industrial and Product Designer – Gould Studios

Bill Gould has been self-employed since 1973 with special expertise in Industrial Design, manufacturing processes and injection molding, and as a consultant in Product Development and Technology Realization, with a primary focus on medical device and consumer products

"I purchased HyperShot at the 2008 SolidWorks World in San Diego, and created my first print quality rendering of the round “Ferguson’s Orrery” within fifteen minutes after installing it. I sat back from the screen, and was frankly “rendered speechless”! HyperShot has become a primary tool in my pipeline and my clients are blown away by the high quality renderings I’m now able to provide. It has even justified a new super-fast workstation!

I used PhotoWorks (within SolidWorks) and still do at times, but primarily it’s used to do surface specific mapping prior to importing into HyperShot. I was just about to buy another photo-rendering application, but I’m sure glad I met the Bunkspeed team first! I also use PhotoShop, so I appreciate the ease with which HyperShot images import for additional tweaking and integration into the layout.

Once you learn the simple tools it’s really fast and efficient, and each upgrade makes it even easier and more intuitive. It’s perfect for the casual user, yet offers the professional considerable depth and control, allowing us to focus on the art, rather than the process. The Bunkspeed support is excellent, and they are building a true world-wide community through their HyperShot Forum, Newsletter and training webinars. Best of all, HyperShot is FUN, unlike most other software applications!"

Featured Designer of the Month-Chad Holton

Chad Holton is a mechanical designer at Emerson Power Transmission located in Maysville, Kentucky. He’s been with Emerson for a total of 12 years, designing gear reducers inside and out. After graduating from Northern Kentucky Tech. in 1996, he started at Emerson as a Draftsman using AutoCAD and then began using Pro/ENGINEER the summer of 1999. He also had a short career in Geographic Information Systems in 2008 and went back to Emerson this past September.
CAD Application:
Pro/ENGINEER
Camera:
HyperShot HD
Q&A with Chad:

Bunkspeed: How long have you used HyperShot before you made these pictures?
Chad:A couple of these pictures were made within the first week of having HyperShot. After learning about HyperShot from a friend here at work, I obtained the demo and less than 15 minutes after bringing in the first model; I had the best looking rendering I had ever made. I would spend countless hours making renderings in Pro/ENGINEER, which could be created in a very short time with HyperShot.

Bunkspeed: What did you use before HyperShot?
Chad:I mainly used the default rendering package in Pro/ENGINEER. Tried other software as well, but HyperShot was the most user friendly.

Bunkspeed:What do you like most about HyperShot?
Chad:What sold me was the ability to create a nice rendering in a short amount of time. I sometimes get request for renderings without much time to do them and HyperShot allows me to do this easily. Also, among other things, I like the thought of coming back a few months later into a saved bip file and being able to change colors, move the camera angle, etc. for a different request requiring the same model.

Bunkspeed:Did you use one of our stock hdri or did you make your own?
Chad:For most of my images I use your studio lighting hdri with the environment turned off. Every now and then I like to mix it up and use one of the others. Most renderings I do will end up needing the background removed anyway so your alpha channel option is very handy.

Yanko Design Chooses Bunkspeed

Los Angeles, CA, January 6, 2009 – Bunkspeed, developer of the world’s fastest 3D rendering technology for design, engineering, and marketing, today announced that Yanko Design will feature Bunkspeed’s signature rendering software HyperShot as part of its widely popular online publication. The online magazine will offer HyperShot trial downloads and sales to its online community.

“The level of realism delivered by these applications enables the Yanko Design community to better communicate their concepts and ideas,” says Philip Lunn, CEO and founder of Bunkspeed. “Aligning with Yanko Design brings significant exposure to our products and further builds community by linking the design, engineering, and marketing disciplines.”

Takashi Yamada, founder Yanko Design says: “Many design contributors in our community were already using HyperShot, it was an easy decision to choose Bunkspeed. We have always said “it’s all about the best.” Bunkspeed shares that philosophy.”

The HyperShot promotion will allow anyone to achieve state-of-the-art photorealistic effects on designs. “Because there is not a need for a lot of technical experience with HyperShot,” says Lunn, “Bunkspeed democratizes access to advanced 3D rendering. Thanks to Yanko Design, this technology is spreading to a whole new audience of users.”

Spotlight-Jon Hull Designer of the Month

Jon Hull is a senior designer at Mitsubishi Motors. He's been an automotive designer for 13 years, designing exterior and interiors of concept and production vehicles. He also work in other fields including product design, furniture design and video games. He went to college at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn NY.

Q&A with Jon
How long had you used HyperShot before you made these pictures? I've been using HyperShot since May of this year. But within the first couple weeks I was producing images similar to these. HyperShot is a very intuitive program, even on your first use it is amazing what you can achieve.

What did you use before HyperShot? Mostly Alias, and a few other programs. While there are other decent real-time 3d programs, nothing compares to the realistic subtleties that HyperShot produces.

What do you like most about HyperShot? HyperShot's ability to produce photo realistic renderings in near real-time has drastically altered the way the automotive industry has approached the entire design process. Being able to visualize real world aesthetics of a design at such an early stage has opened up new review processes that simply weren't possible before. The interface is incredibly easy to pickup, for anyone who has used any 3d modeling program you can basically be up and running in about 15 minutes. The shadows and bounced light are some of the best quality I have ever seen, the fact that it renders in minutes is just mind numbing.

Did you use one of our stock hdri or did you make your own? I used a combination of your HDRIs and HDRIs I made myself. In some cases I mixed your HDRIs with my own backplates.
